About Jacob

Hello!

My name is Jacob Bennett. I am an eagle scout from troop 777, graduate of Harford County Public Schools, grandson of a dairy farmer, and now a proud kindergarten teacher right here in Harford County.

During my childhood I was inspired by all the adults in my life who selflessly loved and supported me in times of true crisis. Because of their heroism I made the decision at a very young age that I would be for other children what they had been for me.

This mission has taken me in many directions throughout my life.

I spent 6 summers of my life working at Broadcreek Memorial Scout Reservation right here in Harford County. Here I worked to bring joy, laughter, and a love of the outdoors to hundreds of children every summer.

When not at camp I studied at Salisbury University where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Because of my focus to become a teacher as fast as possible I was able to graduate in just 3 years instead of 4.

During my time in Salisbury I founded and operated a mentoring program for the children in the community. We had weekly homework help, monthly outings into the community, and a yearly overnight trip where we would volunteer in other communities.

After graduating, my heart brought me back home to Harford County where I have been ever since. I am a kindergarten teacher and am currently in my 6th year of teaching. The children I serve today in my classroom are my passion and my heart. It is their spirit and drive that drives me to do my very best by them daily.

I am running for office because I see a lack of child advocacy in our local government. It is as though if you can’t afford the $1,000 platinum ticket to their fundraiser, our local officials don’t even know your name.

The bible says that when we go to heaven one day the first of us will be made last and the last of us will be made first. Well, I am a believer in bringing heaven down to earth which is why I am calling for a revolution in how we view local funding. We need to put our children and their education very first and those in office very last.

I will be a fighter and an advocate for your children because at the end of the day we all share this community. It takes a village, and I am proud to be your neighbor.
